Abstract
Video abstract 143 of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland Annual Meeting, 1–3 July 2024, Newport, Wales.
This is the second of four videos produced and edited entirely by clinicians to present at a county/ICB meeting with local GPs in order to explain the implications and relevance of the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) in rapid access colorectal referral practice.
This second video explains how FIT will guide referral practice in future as per the August 2023 Nice guidelines ‘Quantitative faecal immunochemical testing to guide colorectal cancer pathway referral in primary care’. Patients with certain symptoms or signs may not need a FIT. Other patients, if they are FIT negative and who might previously have been considered for a rapid access referral, might be managed in the community or on alternative pathways.
This video has also been made to demonstrate the potential value of video for subjects other than operative procedures – and can be re-edited, for example the original GP meeting video has been edited down from 12 min.
Video length = 9 min 48 s.
