Setting a benchmark in surgical training - robotic training under the European School of Coloproctology, ESCP.

Abstract
The recent coroner's inquest into a robotic cardiac surgery in the UK has generated much media coverage and debates amongst the robotic surgical community. The coroner expressed there was an 'absence of any benchmark' for training on new intervention treatments. As technologies evolve, surgeons not only need to be familiar with the anatomy and operative procedures but also need to use the equipment safely and effectively.
