Abstract
The purpose of this study was to see if it was possible to use an assessment instrument to screen a large population for the possibility of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. 89 Ss participated in a study designed to test the effectiveness of the Nylander questionnaire. The Nylander questionnaire produced a very high rate of false positives, which casts doubt on the utility of this questionnaire to assess rates of Autistic Spectrum Disorder in the absence of further time-consuming and expensive follow-up investigations.
